• YearsAbroad.com aims to make it easier for students to answer their questions on the realities of living, working and studying abroad as part of their degree.

  We have student-submitted reviews of universities, language schools, internships and teaching assistantships the world over. Contributed by students who’ve actually done it, you can find advice on and reviews of:

  • Application processes and administration;
  • Accommodation offered and where are the best places to live.
  • How students and foreigners are treated and how to get over “culture shock”.
  • The quality of teaching, pastoral care and social life.
  • How to get value for money out of your Year Abroad experience.

  Our Guide covers everything from choosing a destination and selecting a university, to managing your daily expenditures and integrating into a foreign community, and includes practical advice submitted by our student users. Some universities, such as Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, also have useful advice for students travelling overseas – and YearsAbroad.com aims to complement that.

  Past Year Abroad Students: Do you wish you’d known more about the city, course or country in which you spent your Year Abroad before you went? It’s often difficult to find out what the experience will really be like. You can submit an article on YearsAbroad.com here, and please join our forums. We are a not-for-profit site and invest our own time and money in the project – we will of course give you full credit for your reviews and advice.
