  The EVS is a fully-funded EU programme, just like Erasmus or Leonardo da Vinci, except you get to work with an NGO.  There is a HUGE online database that you can search according to where you want to go and what you want to do - you can go to any EU country and the projects include the environment, health, children, art and culture, people with disabilities… 

  Your travel to and from the country is covered, as are your accommodation, your food, your insurance, three training sessions, a short language course, and you receive a small allowance each month.  It’s really well organised - you get in touch with an organisation in the UK who then handle all the paper work and liase with the organisation in your destination country so it’s very straightforward.
