The Articles, Reviews and Stories that we need
-
There are two categories of content which YearsAbroad.com includes.
The first is our Years Abroad Guide, which gives you general advice. We’ll continuously update this article with tips submitted by students who’ve taken their Year Abroad, and with advice from UK universities. Accessible by chapter from the sidebar, it will cover everything from choosing a destination and selecting a university, to managing your daily expenditures and integrating into a foreign community.
If you’d like to add to the Guide, you can email ed@yearsabroad.com or submit your tip as a post without a category - our moderators will then move it from the reviews section to the Guide.
The second is the collection of reviews on aspects of previous Years Abroad to help those researching theirs. It can be very hard to find out exactly what, for example, the University of Shanghai is like before you go, or to know what being an intern at Air France in Paris is like from a student’s perspective.
For the benefit of those researching their Year Abroad, you can post here and tell others:
- about the application process, your boss and colleagues
- if the quality of teaching, pastoral care and social life lived up to your expectations
- what (if any) accommodation was on offer, where the best districts to live are, and where to look for apartments
- how students / foreigners were treated and incorporated into the company / college / university at which you spent time, and how well (if at all) you were paid
- of any experiences, stories or anecdotes (true ones only please) about settling in or the “culture shock” phenomenon
- if you feel that you got value for money out of the whole experience.
