I’ve done a fair bit of travel. One thing that I’ve noticed is the amount of alcohol that is consumed. Now, don’t get me wrong—I enjoy a drink (Espresso Martini, anyone?) as much as the next person. But sometimes it feels like drinking, especially excessive drinking is practically a requirement for being part of the backpacker scene. Subconsciously there’s pressure to fit in, and you might feel excluded not drinking.
Maybe it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate our relationship with alcohol while traveling. It’s okay to let loose and have fun every once in a while, but if you’re drinking every single day of the trip what’s the point of traveling at all?
Wake up without a hangover!! Watch the sunrise!! Appreciate the countries beauty!! Go on a hike!! Experience the culture!!
Because at the end of the day, isn’t that what travel is all about?
Cheers to that.
